If I Say No
A Collection of What If's
Zimbell House Publishing is holding open submissions for short stories set in the 16th, 17th, or 18th century that beg the question, "What if I say no?" We need to know which party is asking the question. and make your short tale from the POV of the person asking. The tale needs to be a fully developed concept. What is the question, and what are the ramifications either way.
Is it a marriage proposal? A request for revenge? Help in a plot to finance pirates? A kidnapping? A theft plot? Let your historical muse shine and which ever of the three centuries you choose, try to be as authentic as possible in both setting and dialog. Cautionary note: when we say authentic dialog, we are speaking of slang usage, not formal language. Our reader's are not interested in wading through formal historical language.
